Skips Honda, Keyser West Virginia.
They had an auction last weekend.
After his passing, the kids couldn't seem to keep it together,
so they sold off what's rumored to be half of what the guy
collected during his time in business.
On the way over I had to stop a grab this shot.....somewhere between Mt. Storm and New Creek WVA,
on the shoulder of Rt. 50.
There were 3, Honda 750 DOHC motors.
Still in plastic from the factory.
Would slip right into my bike, which has 29k on it.
I figured they'd go for a grand easy.
Which I don't have.
I was told the first 2 did, 800 and 1200.
But the 3rd went for 250 bucks.
I still get depressed when I think about it.
Anyway, ball park numbers off the top of a friends head,
The crated Harleys, 12 grand, maybe 12.5.
The Triumph choppers, 3 grand each.
The Suzuki rotary, 3500.
The crated Turbo, 10 grand
The Trident 3200.
The 2 Triumphs by the window, like 2600 each.
The Yankee dirtbike went for 4,100.
The Purple Water Buffalo I think 3500.
The gas tanks, started at 2 to 400, but by the end of the pile were going for 35 bucks.
Helmets, same thing.
Seeing the collection, Skip was a hell of a guy.
Ball Auctions, right out of Terra Alta, got the job selling the stuff.
A friend of mine from T/A, known to all simply as "Cowboy". Helped me build my house.
When not working for Ball, he follows the hippie circuit, a true deadhead, but a good guy.
(note the tiedye shirt
It was pretty crowded, for sure.
